Death toll reaches 422 in the UK after 88 more people test positive in the last 24 hours

Eighty-eight more people have died in the UK, taking the death toll up to 422.

A total of 90,436 people have been tested in the country for COVID-19 of which 8,077 are positive, according to the Department of Health and Social Care.

This comes after the UK woke up to a lockdown following Boris Johnson’s declaration of a “moment of national emergency”.

People will only be allowed to leave their home for essential supplies, one form of daily exercise or a walk, medical care or essential work that cannot be completed at home.
