British Writer Pens The Best Description Of Trump I’ve Read

Someone on the question-and-answer website Quora asked “Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?” Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England wrote the following response:

A few things spring to mind.

Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem.
For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace – all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed.
So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.

Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing – not once, ever.
I don’t say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility – for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman.

But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is – his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty.

Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers.

And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.

There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface.

Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront.
Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul.

And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist.
Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that.
He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat.

He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.

And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully.
That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead.

There are unspoken rules to this stuff – the Queensberry rules of basic decency – and he breaks them all. He punches downwards – which a gentleman should, would, could never do – and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless – and he kicks them when they are down.

So the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a third – of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:
• Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.
• You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.

This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss.
After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum.
God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid.

He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart.
In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws – he would make a Trump.

And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish:
‘My God… what… have… I… created?
If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set.

  1. He is embarrassing and dangerous. He has done nothing but divide our country and torn it to pieces. We are getting ready to spend some time in London soon, and I know we will get asked “What do we think of Trump?”. We try not to think about him. The sooner he is out of office, the sooner we can start repairing out broken country.

    • Reading your take on Trump has helped to vastly improve my mood this morning. Many thanks for sharing your astute observations.

    • Christina….He won the election. How is that dividing the country. Are you aware of the huge crowds that assemble to one of his rallies? That one would be hard for you to know because the Left Wing news media is not reporting it. The unemployment rate is the lowest it has ever been and all of those people will vote for him again. He went to North Korea. Do you have any idea of the significance of that. If not you should not be making stupid statements like that. Maybe you can help reduce this divided country by supporting the man that was elected president. That is how a Republic works. The losers shut the f*** up and let the elected officials do their jobs.

      • Amen! Trump has managed to undo so much damage that Obama did, thank God! The Brits may think Obama was charming, but he was just slick and manipulative, and he and his husband had the world fooled.

      • Thanks, Russian Troll. Democratically elected officials represent the whole country; not just the oligarchy class. BTW, the article is about the man’s character; not his dictator skills.

      • Huge crowds? He recently reported in Phoenix that the crowd was 15,000 when the arena he was in had a maximum capacity of 5000 per Phoenix fire marshall who was there!

      • Harry it must be truly embarrassing to publicly demonstrate your total ignorance to the truth about this illegitimate POTUS. He is nothing more than a professional con-man who had duped a group of American people into believing he is the second coming of Christ when, in fact, he is the Anti-Christ. Failed marriages, failed businesses, failed school, dodged the draft, scams contractors…. You need to pull your head out of that dark oriface that it’s stuck in and see what is really happening. He has sold our country and democracy for a few Russian coins. He is quite obviously Putin’s handmaiden.

      • You have a short memory span, then. The losers never shut up about Obama. They STILL haven’t. The birther nonsense continued through his presidency. His family received threats all the time. People burned effigies of him, right here in America. The GOP refused to work with him and some of them flat out stated they never would. And he wasn’t anywhere near the sniveling buffoon we have in office now, who thinks being a bully makes him strong, who thinks tariffs that are causing massive damage to our economy make him smart, whose nepotism knows no bounds.

He barely does his job anyway. We know he keeps a short work day, doesn’t read what’s put in front of him, and goes on vacation frequently. That’s all verified by WH staff. And sometimes himself. What he does do, frequently, is bully anyone and everyone, and talk about himself nonstop.

      • Dearest Harry, I dont know who the hell you are but your just like Punkin Head, you dont know SHIT…!!!

      • He won the electoral college, not the popular vote. I think MICHAEL STEVENSON has written the best description of tRump I have ever seen. He did go to North Korea and kissed Kim’s ass, however they still build and test rockets and try to build nuclear reactors. I hope the impeachment moves swiftly and he is removed.

      • Harry, trump did not win the election. Hillary Clinton received more than 3 million more votes. The Electoral College give trump the presidency. Trump is riding Obama’s coattails on the economy. Going to N. Korea was a huge mistake. N. Korea has been begging for recognition for many years as a world power, but none have given it to them except trump. And now they have made a fool of him by continuing their nuclear program.

      • Yeah, when Obama had won, by a larger number than Trump, which gave him a political mandate. Were you quiet? I heard a lot from your side and MoscowMitch blocked his Supreme Court nominee. Your beloved GOP is a bunch of criminals breaking the law for personal gain. Not your benefit, their own, entirely their own.

      • he won the election because we have a very strange way of electing presidents. he lost by 3 million votes yet because less populated states wield more power in the electoral college he won more electoral votes then his opponent. in many states where he won by a small majority the votes, he was entitled to the full complement of electors from that state.
he is a nasty incompetent bully and has taking measurements that will results in lasting damage to our country, our society, and our democracy

      • Because he actively promotes an ‘us vs them’ mentality between the citizens in the country he is supposed to be leading.

      • No. He did not win the election. At least not the actual vote count. Only an outdated and no longer relevant Electoral College. But I’m afraid that the old adage may be true, that we get the president we deserve. I just hope that after 4 years of this cretin we finally deserve better.

      • The man is pig. He cannot tell the truth, is a traitor, breaks the law thus far with impunity, throws children in cages, allows our allies to be slaughtered and it has already been proven that he doctors pictures to make his crowds look bigger. Hitler had big crowds too, you moron!

      • Harry, trump’s rallies are insultathons, where this ever-aggrieved malignant narcissist heaps abuse on anyone who dares criticize him, or large groups of people – Mexicans, Muslims, etc. His rallies are the antithesis of bringing the country together. Left wing does report the rallies, they are relevant only in they showcase trump’s lack of sophistication and wisdom and his followers lack of critical thinking skills. The economy had been on an upward trend well before trump took office. You can thank Obama’s handling of the crash at the end of GWB’s term for that. As for losers shutting the F*** up, you don’t seem to recall trump spent the Obama years spreading racist birther lies, and the republicans in office spent their time doing nothing but saying “no.” And yes, trump went to North Korea and came back with nothing at all to show for it. He helped Kim elevate himself on the international stage and buy time to build nukes. Trump was about as effective as Dennis Rodman. It’s not surprising trump proclaimed that he and Kim “fell in Love!” as trump has a special fondness for murderous dictators. He praised Duterte for his handling of the Philippine drug crisis, which boiled down to extrajudicial murder by the thousands. He praises Putin at every turn, siding with this murderer over US intelligence at international press conferences. And for our decent allies, he only has insults, and now with the Kurds, shameful betrayal that will cause countries to seriously second-guess the trustworthiness of our country for years to come. This description of trump above was generous.

      • He went to North Korea and accomplished nothing besides being a propaganda tool for the dictator. Huge crowds? Oh please, try some other TV than Fox and Friends. He is a dangerous demagogue, he is a Russian puppet, a perfect example for narcissism, he is mentally deranged, he is a mysogynic, racist, white suppremacy tool. He is putting children in cages with now way to re-unite them with their parents. He cuts fundings for schools, food stamps and anything that could help the unfortunate people in your county. (Have you seen the best healthcare he promised you? Me neither.) He gives tax breaks to his billionaire friends (Don not get me started on the trickle down economy, we know since Reagan that this does not work) He is giving away national forests to his oil croonies. He does not care about Global Warming, his disregard for your constitution is frightening. He has brought a new level of corruption to Washington (What did he say? He is draining the swamp! No, he made it so deep that everyone is drowning in it) his blatant nepotism and use of his own properties for political meetings, including his peers who pay hundreds of thousands of Dollars( to line his pockets) for a seat at one table (Do you remember the part in your laws that says that a president can not make money from his business during his term? No? Then please re-read them. He is dodging subpoenas like he dodged the draft. You know that no president before him has ever not responded to subpoenas? Have you seen his tax returns? When he started the birther rumours about Pres. Obama, did Obama hide his birth certificate? No, he has shown it. If the Orange turd in the WH has nothing to hide, why does he not just show Congress ( you know who and what that is? That is the body of your government that has been elected by the people of the USA) his tax returns and answers the subpoenas? He admitted on TV that he has asked a foreign government to help him get re-elected in 2020, by searching for dirt on the son of one of his possible opponents. This alone is an impeachable offense. He abandoned the Kurds who have fought at the side of the USA since the beginning of that clusterfuck in the Middle East. They are the ones who cfaptured and held thousands of IS fighters ion prison. Guess what has happened since he sent your troups back a few hundred miles. Turkey has invaded Northern Syria, bombarded the cities, and camps where IS fighters where held. Those IS fighters escaped the destroyed prisons and are regouping again. He is responsible for the dead kurdish families and they will not forget it. They like the rest of the world know now that you can’t trust the US to have your back. Trump threw a decade long partnership under the bus and for what? His properties in Turkey. He has made an unstable banana republic out of the US and it will take a long time until the damage he has done has been healed.

      • Let’s look at your statement. “He won the election.” Actually, he didn’t. Hillary got almost 3 million votes more. “Are you aware of the huge crowds that assemble to one of his rallies?” Those huge crowds are people who drive for hours to see him, and also many that get paid to be there. If you could see the entire picture, you would see many empty seats. Please tell me…what has he done to reduce the unemployment rate? Jobs were being created during the Obama administration, and 45 has done nothing enhance those policies. “He went to North Korea.” The significance of this is that he was coddling a dictator, again. First Putin, then Kim. He accomplished nothing. They still have nukes and are still a threat to the U.S. and the world. One last thing about your last comments: how often did you “shut the f*** up” when Obama was president? I’m guessing not often.

      • I recall that he did not win the popular vote. I also infer (maybe unfairly) that if Hillary had won, you and other tRump supporters would not have shut the f*** up and let her do her job.

      • Good god Harry. Yes he was elected and everything he’s done since is to increase that divide. Stop watching Fox (I mean Hannity, Laura and Tucker) and look at any other news outlet you want. Elected officials do their jobs???? What has the senate done the last six months????

      • It is clear that you do not understand the significance of his going to North Korea. The media clearly reports on all of his rallies as we see them on TV all of the time. The numbers are never as big as he claims and it really isn’t all that hard to lure 10, 15 or even 20,000 idiots into an arena every few months to hear this idiot speak. That really is no great accomplishment. Lastly, in addition to brushing up on your knowledge of world affairs, you should probably review some literature on how “a Republic” actually works. It might do you some good.

      • Another apologist for Donnie.
Please don’t judge us by this sycophant who questions our “awareness”.

      • Your classless comment shows how Trumps followers have been brainwashed to spew hate and disregard for civility. By the way, while Trump lies about numbers attending his rallies, there are that many more protestors on the streets outside. Please stop blaming the media for lying about Trump. He shows us his true hatefulness through his ridiculous tweets and “speeches” full of mistruths and deceit.

      • Huge crowds of like minded mean people, all from his 38% base, won’t win him a second term. Democrats will NOT sit home in 2020 as they did in 2016. Hillary’s not on the ballot. No matter which Democrat emerges from this ridiculously crowded primary field, WE. WILL. RALLY. AND. VOTE. BLUE. NO. MATTER. WHO.

TRUMP is a disease, an oozing sore that feeds upon hate to sustain it. He continues to boost his insatiable ego packing arenas with groupies in Nuremberg-like love fests at which he “plays his greatest hits”, never once attempting to reach out to the rest of the electorate.

This British writer has nailed Trump…..and you for supporting him, and you know it.

      • He lost the popular vote but won the Electoral College, big difference there. Empty seats and paid attendees at all his “I Love Me” rallies (well documented). North Korea still developing their nukes as is Iran. How is this good for US? Obama policies pulled us out of the Great Recession and set up the economic expansion continuing to this day in spite of all the ill advised trade restrictions T-Rump has made against China and our other trading partners. Sheep being led to the slaughter…

      • Dear Hairy Pudenda, Visiting North Korea has done nothing but give legitimacy to a tyrannical and cruel regime. NK is the only winner here. America is the true loser. Trump lost the popular vote by 3,000.000 and his vitriolic lies and actions are what has divided the country. I would love it if the elected officials did their job but sadly hardly any of them are either capable of doing so or are not intellectually up to the task. I make exceptions for those who, of course, are either in jail or under indictment and facing sentencing which makes up about three quarters of Trumps “Best People”. I suggest you read the assessment above and inwardly digest it to see why your little diatribe in defense of the defenseless is laughable and sad at the same time.

      • He lost the popular vote, dumbo. You’re a mindless Chump-for-Trump, and your “Zero/hero is going to be impeached. He “won” in 2016 with the help of Citizens United, the ridiculous Electoral College (which is going to be phased out), hacking help from the Russians, GOP gerrymandering, voter suppression, and closing voting stations in Blue areas. Someday you’ll stop kidding yourself and realize that ugly Cheeto is a criminal fraud.

      • Let me see I can unpack all this cultist-speak:
He was “elected” by the Electoral College, not by a majority of voters. Not even close. He lost by about 3 million popular votes.
The “large crowds” at his ego-masterbating pep rallies are cultists who would worship a rock if they thought it irritated the “libtards”.
The employment rate basically counts under employed, part time, lowest wage jobs. Many people here are forced to work 2 & 3 jobs with no benefits just to get by.
“He went to North Korea” to schmooze with one of his idols: A ruthless, self-absorbed dictator who willfully let’s his own people starve.
This moron “Harry” worships a demonstrably unstable, bat-poop crazy narcissistic sociopath who was installed into his office by the leader of a hostile foreign power ( who also once ran their intelligence agency).
People like scooter here possess frighteningly bad judgement and should not be trusted under any circumstance to do the right thing.

      • Harry, you clearly lack the basic cognitive skills to discern the dangers this unfit man poses to our country. You can help make America great again by refraining from speaking on matters you are not qualified to address. Thank you.

      • And the authors’ comparisons with Jabba the Hut and Frankenstein were not funny at all. Im pretty sure she is a fan of Greta and Hilary.

      • Harry — You are talking about the country, and only a portion of it. The article, and Christina, are talking about the man. Note also that divisions in a country are never healed by telling one side of the divide to be quiet — that would be a dictatorship, not a democratic republic.

      • If employment is so great under Trump, why do so many Americans need more than one job to survive? And let’s not forget the crippling debt he has saddled the US with, a straight transfer of wealth to the rich . His documented lying is beyond parody now, a stream of lies everyday, it has become the norm. In addition it has been revealed that his Golf Club would be hosting the next G7 summit, decided by….the White House, so he he also further profiting nicely from the Presidential office. Throw in the blatant nepotism of giving governmental roles to his wholey unqualified family members… And that’s the President you want??? Good luck!

      • Laughable. The elected officials are not doing their jobs. We’ve shut the f*** up long enough, given your side plenty of time and nothing has been accomplished. Stop crowing about the economy and unemployment, those are thanks to PRESIDENT OBAMA. Trump went to North Korea, whoa!! Was that after his heel spurs miraculously went away? Personally I hate the guy. Insult me all you want, I really don’t give a flying crap what you or any of his pet monkeys think. When you wake up and realize he’s bankrupted the country, become a gazillionaire on our dime, and firmly ensconced himself as king of the world, you might feel differently. However I don’t believe any one of you will be big enough to admit that he’s a textbook narcissist out for no one but Donald Trump. I want to vomit just having to write his name. *Closing the door on this discussion. Have a nice day. *

      • This is the most ridiculous comment I have read in a while. He is supposed to be this great deal maker so you comment on him going to North Korea has to make one wonder, what did he get for crossing the boarder? Nothing that’s what! He moved the embassy to Jerusalem. What did he get for it? Nothing! And now he has given up the Kurds who fought and died for the U.S.A.in our fight against ICES. to Turkey and Russia. Again, what did we get for it? Nothing! Nancy Polocie finally said it,” All roads from Trump point to Putin.” He is the Manchurian President and an agent of Russia. So don’t tell me to shut up while I watch him destroy our country.

      • Harry, save your breath. You’ll need it to inflate your next date. Captain Fustercluck von Bonespurs is a very real threat to this country and the world. You are unable to see it because you choose to remain ignorant and worship stupidity, just like anyone still supporting trump.

      • Harry, He has brainwashed about 35% of the US population into thinking he can do no wrong….even when he incinerates standards which have been long held by our country – like being a global leader; and not promoting communist agendas, and not elevating soul-less iron fisted dictators like Kim Jong Un who is very likely guilty of horrendous crimes against humanity. He only cares about himself – not the thousands and millions who have worked and sacrificed for things like middle east stability. His brash decision on Syrian troops is perfect evidence of that. He will leave office within the next 15 months one way or another. I really hope that he is voted out in disgrace….but remember-it will be someone else’s fault of course…and he will take you and the rest of the 35% with him…..because YOU are his newest asset. Just beware – at some point, you’re liable to hear from him, ‘Drink the cool-aide. It’s not our fault it turned out this way – it’s THEM!…just drink the cool-aide, and it will be alright in about an hour.’

      • He did not win the election. He cheated then is is continuing to try to cheat. He knew the truth about Hillary but lied anyway. He inherited the upward economy but it is now in a downward swing. He went to North Korea to make Kim Jung Un look good. Nothing has come out of the meetings that were initially set up by South Korea. Does starting every rally with demonizing the press and the Democrats not divide our country? Seriously. I’m sure it is people like you who attend his rallies and would rather be entertained that informed.

      • Hahahaha! He wishes he had large crowds. People in Beaver, PA were forced to show at his appearance at their workplace a month or so ago or they would not be paid. He’s an egotistical moron, bigot and bully. He’s alienated our allies with his bullshit. If he would work with other politicians instead of trying to do it his way or no way, maybe something would get done in this country. Too bad so many Americans can’t see what’s in front of their faces like other people throughout the world. I cannot respect 45 because of the way he acts and talks.

      • Harry, you’re obviously cut from the same cloth as trump and suffer from both the Dunning-Kruger Effect and a serious case of cognitive dissonance, if you think this buffoon deserves respect from anyone.

      • Yes please explain the significance of his going to N.Korea. He did not win the popular vote but rather the electoral college..which is still a legit win. In a true republic the “losers” are not required to “shut the f up”. But rather are still allowed to voice their opinions. Also, in a true republic the winner of an election is still required to follow the rule of law not make this own laws or ignore those that don’t work for them.

      • He is a dumb, vicious, isolated, corrupt and nasty man and is tailing President Obama’s economy. Putin owns him and he just lost the south eastern Nato border to him. Our oil resources are now exposed. 50 us nukes are in the hands of theocratic dictator Erdogan. Un has nukes and denies access to East Asia. China has a vast fleet and denies US access to East Asia. The UN Congress laughs about him. The world thinks you Hicks are just..Hicks. We in the developed part of the US think the same and now that brain drained people’s last stand is Trump we will impeach the shit out of the waddling embarrassment lead on by Stephen Miller. 12000 lying tweets in 3 years? Wake up!

      • Donald did NOT win the election, he stole it. The Electoral College has historically gone for a Republican for obvious reasons. Plus Hillary got the popular vote. Sad that you can’t make a comment without swearing. It goes to your lack of intellect and you lack of education. Sad.

      • Oh Harry Harry Harry… thank you so much for showing up… this way the readers of this article can see, first hand, the kind of morons who voted for Trump in the first place…

FYI Harry… Trump won the Electoral College… he did NOT win the Popular Vote (you know… votes from real voters like you and me)

Also FYI… most of those lovely job and economic gains? You can thank Obama for that… it was due to things Obama did while in office, Trump’s greasy pervy fingers had little to do with it. After Trump is gone, it will take years to undo the harm he’s done… so buckle up buttercup, because life is going to suck…again…

Also Harry…lovely…dear… sweet little Harry… please remember to eat your words when a liberal leader is voted into office and, and I quote, ” shut the f*** up and let the elected officials do their jobs.”

      • That is questionable, since Russia aided him! In my mind he is totally illegitimate and a disgrace to our country and in my mind he is totally illegitimate and a disgrace to our country! Can’t wait till he is thrown in prison!!!

      • If this election had happened under normal democratic circumstances, he would’ve lost. But because of our outdated electoral college system, he won. He lost to Clinton by the voices of almost 3 million people. How is that a win?

Support the man that was elected? Because that’s for sure what republicans did during the Obama administration. They didn’t block his supreme court nominee or try to block every single item on his agenda. They didn’t make distasteful, rude comments, they were very supportive…. right?

Maybe you can help reduce the division by listening to others instead of getting your feelings hurt and saying a bunch of nonsense. No one in America ever shuts up. That’s why we’re so apt to drone on about our freedom of speech. Read a book and get a clue.

      • Are you serious? That’s not how a republic works at all. You weren’t spewing this BS when Obama was being criticized for everything he did.
And nobody said he divided the country by winning the election. He has divided the country by bashing anyone who calls themselves a Democrat, foreign-born, female, or transgendered. He has divided the country by NOT doing his job, but instead spending most of his days on Twitter, on the golf course, or on both. He has divided the country by lying at every possible opportunity, from releasing his taxes to Mexico paying for a wall, to tariffs not hurting the consumer.
And his going to N Korea was not the monumental achievement you make it out to be. He went to see the ruthless dictator he had first mocked but then sucked up to, taking his word that no more nuclear testing would take place, and then shrugging when it inevitably did.
He is shitting on the constitution, he has caused allies to be slaughtered by the thousand, he and his team are now refusing to follow legal procedure when it comes to the impeachment inquiry.
But sure, us “losers” should just shut up and let him continue to shit all over our country, right?

      • he had alot of help to win the election. He went to North Korea because he likes autocrats like Kim Jung Un – do you think he would have gone otherwise. I highly doubt it. Furthermore, stop acting like he is a King. He is exactly as the author described. Just because you are a trumper doesn’t make him a good president

      • Harry Pudenda Exactly… every time he opens his mouth, he is an embarrassment to the US. I wish the loser would shut the f*** up and do his job. He went to North Korea, and to China, and to Russia. Do you think for a moment that he did anything for his country?? Nope. In your world, the farmers are revealing in the tariffs. Rather than use (what is the word.. oh yeah…) DIPLOMACY or which he knows nothing, he has single-highhandedly pissed off half of the world, and repulsed the other half. My pocketbook isn’t growing by leaps and bounds and the Wall Street is doing what it does…making him more money. Meanwhile, I hope to God that this nightmare ends soon and, yeah, he has divided the country. This dialog proves it. No “Left Wing media” needs to report it. It is truth.

      • Oh, OK, so you are talking about the same guy how likes to grab women by the you know what? That’s a great example for our kids, and you should be proud having elected him. And I truly hope his kind of morals and ethics, or better the lack thereof, are part of your daily routine. Tell me, if you had a daughter and some guy would do what this orange moron did, you’d be OK with it? I’d probably break every darn bone in his body.
And why is it that most GOP voters ALWAYS vote against their own interest? You Americans keep bitching about health care, education or income equality when other, more civilized countries show how it’s done. The only thing tRump was good for is bringing all these Neo-Nazis, bigots and haters out form under their rocks; makes it a lot easier knowing who to punch. Seriously, your statement is beyond pathetic, but that’s what Fox-Noise does to people, State/tRump propaganda filled with hatred and lies. Just look at all the responses here and do the math (that’s short for Mathematics), if that was a tRump poll, you’d probably pulling negative numbers 🙂

      • Why is it that those who are dismayed by the present President are usually polite and respectful but those who support him are so rude and abrasive.
Also, the fact that you have chosen the pseudonym: “Harry Pudenda” as the moniker by which you wish to known speaks volumes about your cultural mindset and therefore the weight your opinions may deservedly receive.

      • You are a troll and have no clue of what you’re talking about. Do your research and stop listening to Fox news. The Economy and employment was due to the Obama administration not Donald Trump and going to Korea has only given the North Korean dictator more credence to continue his development of Nuclear weapons. Yes, People voted for him but they didn’t know the real Donald Trump, not like the people of NY.

      • Went to North Korea?🤣🤣🤣. He was already in the ‘hood…Japan. He hopped on a puddle-jumper from there to the 38th Parallel. He stepped a couple of yards into North Korea with Kim for a photo op (to Kim’s immense benefit), then flew back to his cushy hotel in Tokyo. Then he started one of his self-pity parties that he should get the Nobel Prize. Be honest with yourself…without a prior chance to look it up in Google, could you even find Korea on a map?

      • Harry, he may have won the election but not the popular vote. Why are you and others so concerned about the ‘size’ of his crowd? The size of a group of people can also be referenced as a mob. The unemployment rate may be low but this is not all due to Trump and no, be cautious because the false sense of win got Hillary into trouble. We will see how many silent Republicans now vote in 2020. Trump went to North Korea as did Denise Rodman and look – neither have done anything to really stop “rocketman”, Trump took a trip and was duped by N.K. Yes, I agree that is significant. Maybe if Trump quit dividing the country by breaking the law (Ukraine), lying, verbally attacking women, children and those with disabilities or stopping his racially fuel comments the country would not be so divided. Dont blame Non Trump supporters for that – he’s doing that very well all on his own. It’s hard to support someone when they have lied and deceived you but, if you appreciate that quality in a human being it says a lot about your character. We have a democracy and by you telling this writer to quit diving the country and then calling anyone who is not Republican to shut the F up shows, you too sir, are a divider of country. Quit throwing the Trump Stone at others and may be the country can heal.

      • You are correct this writers dislike is not of Trump but of the American people smoke screen lifted!

      • He didn’t, actually win the election. His opponent tallied 3 million more votes than he did, and he is only President because he manipulated an outdated entity known as the Electoral College, which is now simply a means of giving small, Republican, states a disproportionate role in our elections. And let’s not even get into how he had help from Russia in doing so. Subsequently he has been played for the fool that he is by every petty dictator that he admires, from Kim Jong Un to Necip Erdogan, and he has left allies like the Kurds to the mercy of those who will slaughter them. He is nothing but an unmitigated disaster for the US, the world, and the English language..

      • One doesn’t win the presidential election in America by getting the most votes — Hillary Clinton got vastly more votes, so the argument from popularity doesn’t work. Further, the polls show his approval steadily falling, and he almost certainly can’t win again. As for the losers shutting up, I don’t recall the losers being quiet during Obama’s tenure. Hypocrisy is an ugly thing.

      • Pudenda is apt! If anything he’s done worked —NK has famously just continues with nuclear tests — you are welcome to add. He inherited everything: his fortune, the business, Obama’s upward trend in the economy and employment. Follow the US press a little more closely. The New York Times and Washington Post, not the ridiculous right wing sites. Those wondrously attended rallies in which he calls everyone who disagrees enemies: this rhetoric has divided us as a nation. We libs didn’t like Bush 2 but we were never looking at each other across a chasm.

      • Sounds like you attended the same school as Trump. Don’t you know how to engage in civil discourse without attacking using angry, insulting words sprinkled with profanities? This the best you can do? You’ve made yourself look like an ass.

      • Harry…thank you……for proving many of the points of those against Trump…and at the same time showing the many deficiencies in knowledge, wisdom, class, sensitivity and common decently of a typical Trump supporter.

      • He said there were over 20,000 at one his rallies… in an arena that had a capacity of less than 9,000!

      • Until he’s voted OUT and then, will you let the (democratic) next president do the job?

      • And did you all shut the f*** up when Obama was elected? NO!!! All we heard about for years was his birth certificate. So you should look back at the right for the last 10 years.

      • Putin won the election as has been proven by Trump’s adoption of all things pro-Russian. “All roads with you lead to Putin!” The election was hacked and Trump had his Russian buddies, along with Israel, the Saudis and the Emeratis.

Pre-screened crowds at Nazi-style rallies mean nothing. Fascist authoritarians, far right wing domestic terror groups and neo-Nazis follow Trump like folks used to follow the Grateful Dead on tour.

The unemployment rate has gone down because people are taking two or more jobs to make what they used to make under Obama, The Trumo BLS agrees the job creation numbers are also off by over 500,000 on the jobs but Trump hasn’t corrected the rate.

Trump’s asinine tariffs and trade wars have already thrown over 300,000 Ameircans out of work and that will hit over 1,000,000 by end of 2020, after the next round of tariffs kicks in two weeks from now.

The manufacturing sector of the economy has had negative growth for two quarters now, the textbook definition of a recession.

Farmers are losing farms in record numbers which are being bought up by foreigners, including the Chinese from whom we’ve borrowed more billions for bailouts which mostly go to corporations and not to family farms. Farmers are killing themselves in record numbers as they lose their farms and permanently lose their markets to Russia as Brazil is burining down the Amazon for more cropland to compete with the Russians.

Trump went to North Korea and was a give-it-all-away weakling. Trump called off military maneuvers with South Korea and agreed with Kim they were “provocative.” Trump got empty promises in return. Yes, asshat, I know what it meant for Trump to go and to “fall in love” with Kim, Trump gave the most Murderous Godless Communist Dictator in the world credibility as legitimate on the world stage equivalent to a Great Power. Kim must have been dancing for weeks after that because we got NOTHING from Kim. Trump has compounded his invincible idiocy with telling our ASEAN allies and Japan that the North Korean missile tests “over the have nothing to do with us.” AND Trump keeps going back to see Kim further boosting the image of the DPRNK in the world and making Trump more the fool and simpleton for being so easily cowed.

Putin has gotten from Trump ALL of what he wants in the world, a more fractured NATO, a weaker US, a weaker Ukraine to bully, the Kurds abandoned, has sold arms to Turkey (our ostensible NATO ally), a stronger government in Syria, more support for Iran,

I could spend another five hundred or more words on the crimes against humanity Trump has done to innocent asylum seeking infants, toddlers and children at our Southern border but let’s just limit that to kidnapping them from their mothers and familes, caging them, killing them, allowing them to be sexually assaulted, allowing them to be physically assaulted and forcibly drugging them with anti-psychotic mediactions without parent, gaurdian or court approval.

So, if anyone should STFU, it’s you, idyit!

        #FakePOTUSLiarLoserTraitorTrump is a mindless cockwomble!

        Tim Hogan, USA

      • He lost the popular vote and was placed in office by the archaic artifact- the Electoral College, The majority of U.S. citizens voted for the intelligent, articulate woman. This is most significant reason many Americans are grossly dissatisfied by his performance in office. His past deeds of gross malfeasance and misconduct should have disqualified him from this office. The unemployment rate only reflects those who qualify or currently collect unemployment benefits. One you are no longer eligible. you no longer “count”. Going to North Korea may have seemed like a wonderful thing; but embracing the dictators of other nations isn’t how U.S. presidents should act. Our “elected officials” are running us into the ground financially. They have abandoned those who we once defended us as allies. They have diminished our nation in the eyes of the world. Perhaps you might consider how stupid some of your comments sound before criticizing others.

      • He created jobs because people are working two jobs to try and make enough that one job did before. You too are a troll. And a soulless follower.

      • Obama won the election twice yet the Republicans tell everyone that he divided the country.
The economy has been improving for years and it’s great to see it continue under Trump. Congrats to him!
The media does show his “rallies” and the crowds. His rallies are hate filled rants and filled with lies and he preaches them to people that want to hear it.

Yes, he went to North Korea and it means nothing. North Korea still has the same nuclear program as before. All those love letters and falling in love with a dictator has done nothing. Not a damn thing but naive folks like you tout it as an accomplishment.

Trump lies so much that it is sickening. I don’t need the media to tell em this because I read it on Twitter, hear his rallies, hear him talk, etc. Trump doesn’t know how to tell the truth and you are pathetic for not calling OUR President out.

I support the President and wish him success, regardless of political affiliation. Having said this, Trump has been a disaster shit show since the first lie “Largest inauguration ever” and that was followed up by “millions of illegal voters” and the lies haven’t stopped since.

      • A republic works when a few people vote in someone they like – doesn’t mater what the population of the country wants. Look it up. Yes he went to North Korea – and has spoken highly of other dictators. He has said that he admires them. Hmmm…makes you wonder why he admires them. The country IS divided – by people who look FORWARD and to the FUTURE and people who believe that the 1950s were a time we should try to go back. They were a time when women couldn’t hold a job if they got pregnant and had to have their husbands ok everything, it was a time when people of color were held down, lynched and more. It is NOT a world that we want again…and we will never have it again no matter how hard the president and his cronies want it. Remember…the majority of people did NOT vote for Trump…but – as you make sure to mention, it was the REPUBLIC that voted him in. Now people think it’s ok to harrass women, non-white people, those with disabiltites, etc. Why? The president makes fun of them ALL and supports violence (we’ve all seen how he tells his followers to be violent – just look on youtube if you deny it). Some of us didn’t like Clinton either, btw but weren’t fooled by the AWFUL business man (yes, look up his history…actual FACTS and don’t just parrot back what someone tells you!). When a person feels they are losing an argument they start to use profanity, insults and more. Sounds like you are a true supporter as you couldn’t use FACTS in your response…and had to finally resort to profanity. Some of us use our minds and not just our emotions…maybe that’s why the country is divided…those who only use their emotions and parrot back what the commentators on Fox News tell them (of course it’s the commentators and not the actual news broadcasts), and those who actually watch Fox News and MANY other news souces in order to garner their OWN opinions. Meaning. Thinkers….NOT Followers. Good try in your post.

      • I have no idea how one say ANYTHING positive about this trash sitting and getting fat on McDonald’s at the White House?? He is SOILING the office he has taken with the help of our BIGGEST ENEMY!!
I agree with 100% of what is written about this worthless sorry excuse of a subhuman! He has done NOTHING but got the USA humiliated numerous times all across Europe, Middle East and the United States of America! He made us a LAUGHING STOCK of what was an amazing country and destroyed EVERYTHING HE TOUCHES. One thing that was not really mentioned in this article was He is the BIGGEST LIAR EVER!
I really don’t care who goes up in 2020! JUST NOT HIM!!!

      • He did not win the election. Hillary Clinton won the election with over three million votes. Trump was made President by the “Electoral College” an ancient thing that almost nobody understands, needs or wants. We need to get rid of the Electoral College and we need to get rid of before the next elections. The majority of people in the United States are reasonably well educated and the voting should be done by them.

      • Sorry, Harry not so funny surname. DJT did not win the popular election in 2016. He was brought into office by an Electoral College which has been perverted and distorted in its function by state rules that were never a part of the Constitution. That did not make him ‘win’ the election. It did, by those distortions, make him the incumbent President. And, your iteration of “how a Republic works” is equally inaccurate on several counts. Not voting for a candidate who wins does not make the voter a “loser” whose only recourse is to ‘shut up.’ Nothing in voting for any candidate abrogates one’s Constitutional right to free speech, or to continue to work for those values and ideals that any voter may hold dear. The right of a minority to speak their minds and hearts is enshrined in the Constitution. Also, an elected official is NOT elected to take care of his/her electors, but to promote the well being of ALL the electorate, without prejudice against those with whom s/he disagrees with, and without favor for those s/he is endorsed by. What’s more, if the elected official does not, as DJT is not doing, actually do his/her job, then that person, and entourage, can be opposed and legally taken out of office by impeachment – if impeachment is the appropriate action, or by indictment and conviction, or by invocation of such provisions as the ‘unfit for duty’ that is also a part of the Constitution.

      • He did not win the election. Hillary won by over 3,000,000 popular vote. He is trying to turn our country over to Putin.

      • He did not win the election. He lost that by 3 million or so votes. What he won was the electoral college vote, which is part of the divisive factors alluded to earlier. All the size of his rally crowds tells us is that he can attract crowds. So can televangelists and similar scam artists. It is well documented that many of those people are the same groupies who follow him from rally to rally. Just like the Grateful Dead fans of past days, known as “deadheads.” And photographs of his crowds are not always consistent with his glowing descriptions of their numbers. He went to North Korea – and screwed up that opportunity big time. We got better results when we sent bizarre tattooed athletes. And “support the man who was elected President?” Where did you learn your definition of a Republic – a state-sponsored civics class in Tehran or Beijing? (And yes, I know your name is a fake – the kind of really puerile pun that only Trump would find amusing, if he even had the intellect to decode it in the first place.) And on the subject of unemployment statistics, you might want to plot the unemployment rate since 2008 before you let fly. That shows clearly that most of the improvement there took place on Obama’s watch. As did most of the other major improvements in economic measurements. As for the rate of increase in the National Debt, however, Trump is in a class by himself.

      • You have no mind either,,,,,to call someone who is telling it like it is, is in itself a tRUMP like rhetoric…..sorry for you, but he won’t have another term, and hope he doesn’t get to finish this one.

      • Lets finish the thought. He went to North Korea and. . . Did WHAT? What did he do? Their arsenals are growing everyday. Kim is as delusional as ever. Their people have had no relief from terrible suffering through starvation, poverty, lack of medicine. Kim teaches that he is a god like being and can read thoughts! Therefore one must never even think about all the cruel treatment or wish to have enough bread, or wonder why father was removed from the family. No, he has done worse than nothing in Korea.
Any beginner sleepy economics text will explain how current economic conditions have grown from seeds planted many seasons ago. He has only ripped to pieces a few foundations that will wreak havoc when he is gone. His business successes have come from his overbearing and overaggressive nature. His bankruptcies follow because, in the end, he is profoundly stupid about long term business relationships. He obviously has not studied ( or even read) economics, global history or affairs, government processes. He hasn’t discovered that orange hair dye is, um, equivalent to wearing vomit on your head.
He is quick to belittle, insult, deride. He has made a bully battle between the parties. He has been divisive because his first focus is to make outrageous deceiving remarks against the Dems, accusations that are extreme and misleading and untrue. He inherited the growing economy but cannot admit it. He has put himself in a Dictator’s show. He has trampled good WH practices and shuns not just democratic practice, but sound erudite practice. The morning briefing? The press conference? He is like the obnoxious chaos maker in first grade, and his instincts are full of vitriolic nonsense. The greater good, the service to country and to all Americans, where have those priorities gone? His every word and action comes from an insatiable desire for recognition, whether it be real or not. He physically shoves people out of the way to put himself in center front. He does that with world leaders! He immediately assumes that a differing opinion is solely motivated by personal ill will, and not by learned critical thinking because his own opinions come from a maniacal ego, a constantly aggressive narrative that, in a dog, would result in lots of fights. His nature is to fight. Thats what is dividing us, you fool’s fool. A patriot does not sit back when the Constitution is being trampled upon. He came out from behind the podium ready to beat up Americans. He is divisive not because he won but because he is an aggressive, ignorant man who chronically battles. He picks fights, thats why he is divisive. Just think of the good he could be addressing. But no, that ugly orange tsunami is blind to what is good, right. He won the election. But his execution of the office does not deserve approval or respect. Hatred, ego, power and greed infect every aspect of his life. He is staining and ravaging American ideals and institutions. That is what makes him divisive.

      • To Harry Putzdenda, if that’s your real name,

Of course Comrade Trump went to North Korea. What is so unusual about visiting the person for whom you have proclaimed your love? To my British friends, was that proper English? I don’t want to offend anyone by ending my sentence with a preposition!

      • Trump has not “won” the election, the MAJORITY of the people voted for Hillary. If you are willing to accept a president of such poor character (the list is long), your morals and expectations of your president must be very low as well. I watch Fox News for a while every day and most of their news are twisted and distorted. I also watch BBC and other news to get a better understanding what’s happening. If you are just happy to follow your president blindly because he “won”, you deserved him. History will show that he is a dangerous, callous psychopath.

    • Come on media. Stop throwing insults. He is doing his best amongst all those against him. Most of his insults come after being attacked at a personal level.

We, who have fought so hard to educate the apparently-unteachable around us, are maybe ashamed to be U.S. citizens for the first time in our lives. Trump has inherited Obama’s hard work and he’s taking credit for it. The Republicans did nothing to help Obama during his presidency. They just made him the enemy to be stopped at all costs. They denied him the right to appoint a Supreme court justice. I would love to find out how legal that was. Trump follows are just not educated enough to see the damage he has and is doing. Companies now have the right to pollute streams and he want’s to open pristine areas to oil drilling and pollution again. He is the devil and I’m not religious. So how is the UK economy working for you? Right, exactly. I see Socialist jealously here, along with the subliminal flashes of Trump depicted as gorilla in the caricature. Do I love Trump? No I do not. Do I think he’s a narcissist? Absolutely but as a British American I can smell cheap cathartic writing from at least a mile away. Why write to appeal to a rabid few when your privilege of having readership could help you give knowledge and improve how people respond? I suspect it’s because your circle of peers only agrees with you and doesn’t stretch you. The reason why there was such shock and surprise when Trump won was because people operated in their own minds and didn’t look at reality. Good or bad, as soon as Trump threw his hat in the ring, I knew he would win. The time and storm were perfect for his election. Unfortunately, I see the same happening again . When will people learn that keeping their heads in the sand and denying reality with their agendas…doesn’t work? It didn’t work in the last election and it’s not going to work in this one. I predict that Trump will win again.

We have that bewilderingly loyal and faithful “third” (MAGAtes), while Britain accessed such job-hungry armies for its bidding, fueled and also populated by business-savvy aristocrats, to be more Goliath over vast tracts of colonized, exploited, and suppressed planetary Davids and showing far more pity than compassion in the exploitation and extraction of human and planetary resources. I’m afraid we have more in common than we’d like to admit, we the bastard, wayward child of one such colony and its empire of movers. We are the bald naked expression of this aspect of humanity, greed and opportunity stripped of the smoking jacket and snow-job of good breeding.

      • I thought humor everywhere would take him out……nope. He is a blood sucking tick in the side of America.

    • The economy may be ‘working’ for you right now, but is a wittless idiot that spends like crazy in a credit card and assumes he’s rich. That’s what the US is doing right now. It is imprudently borrowing to fund tax cuts. That may well feel like a booming economy but it is a rolling snowball of vast debt. Borrowing to fund the rich is like a bizarre, deformed version of socialism. Handouts for those who need them least. Imprudence and lack of responsibility is certainly not conservative.

Trump doesn’t care, he’ll likely be out of office, in jail or dead by the time the bill comes in. It’s your children that will pay the bill for this brief frenzy of frothing, populist madness.

But our economy is also teetering on the edge here in the states? Don’t believe me….go ask someone who actually lives in the manufacturing or agricultural sector, like me. Go ask anyone in the minute middle class who just paid more taxes than the billionaire class. Yes, he will probably win again, but on absolutely zero merit or the fundamentals that our society in the US was actually built on. Go ahead, vote for him again….it’s on you too.

Don’t kid yourself because emotions of hate and fear ARE more powerful motivators than finance or rational thinking. Fortunately the more powerful emotional antidote is love and empathy and I pray that anyone who can’t see how much pain and evil this man is bringing into the world can open their hearts and choose what’s good over evil, ego, selfishness and scorn. We are just seeing the “rewards” of the Trump administration on the economy recently. Slumped retail markets where more and more are going bankrupt, FED rates will likely have to go into the negative rates to keep the economy growing, those jobs that were promised are STILL LEAVING the country and not getting replaced, the farm economy collapsing completely, escalating trade wars with China that are skyrocketing prices, income inequality in the country at the highest rate it has ever been, reduction in budgets for services for public schools and hospital services, stagnant wages that are not keeping up with the raising cost of healthcare, housing, and goods, and yet he’s doing great things for the economy?!?!?!?! Now that he’s embroiled in bad foreign policy fiascos, we see that he is truly incompetent on all levels. There is no China deal. Nothing has changed with North Korea. And all of our allies are done with his antics. Maybe even Putin will cut him loose soon. He is what he is and has always been: a small-minded, bullying conman, but it’s the +/- 40% of Americans who support him, the Republican Party and most of their members of Congress (and perhaps now a majority of the Supreme Court). The “rot” is not confined solely to the White House.

Getting rid of Trump will be the tip of the iceberg. “His people” have tasted blood, the GOP (and their corporate special interest groups) have found a source of power and these politicians have found something that keeps them in office.

If Trump is gone, others of his ilk, maybe more polished, but more deadly, will rise to take his place. His “election” was not a blip and I fear, we haven’t seen the end of it. My mother used to tell me, “you’ll be judged by the company you keep.” I think that might also extend to the “leaders you follow” and that speaks volumes about the state of the nation.

Speaking of the good ‘ol US of A, thanks to her, you have the freedom to write this article bashing President Trump… no doubt written in English and not in German. Good for you chap. Good for you.

    • What an insensitive, arrogant thing to say. Overall, Britain lost more people to the War with German than we did, and Russia actually got to Berlin first. The US certainly played a key roll in the War, but to crassly suggest we casually pulled the British chestnuts out of the fire is a great dishonor to the brave British men and women who fought against Hitler. If you don’t like the author’s analysis of Trump, stick to that, don’t be an ass!

    • You miss the point completely. This was a criticism of one man and one man only. USA is a great country with many fantastic people but Trump is making the States a laughing stock all round the world. And Trump had not much to do with winning the war. In fact, as I’m sure you know his father’s family were German. And by the way you could call the NHS in England socialistic but Trump was boasting of wanting to buy it !

    • You obviously don’t remember who actually won the Battle of Britain against the Luftwaffe.
We Americans may have sent them the tools, but the British finished the job.
Without them, we would have had nowhere from which to launch bombing raids on Germany or an invasion of Normandy.
Were Britain to fall then, Germany would have used those islands to launch invasion of the Americas.
Yes, we sent troops to liberate Europe, but Great Britain held out against the Nazis.
They saved us as much as we saved Europe, Have some respect for the fallen RAF pilots.

And no mention of their current buffoon grifters Johnson or Farage, nor of the Brexit fear-driven fiasco which is the article’s elephant in the room. All the latter are proof that the American apple hasn’t fallen far from Buckingham’s tree.

    • True. But reflections on Britain’s sins have little to do with Trump and the States. Coming from Celtic ancestry, I am well aware of just how loathsome England is regarded by Scots, Irish and Welsh.

Just because something is eloquent doesn’t mean it’s accurate and/or more of the same bs. Obama had class! I’ll take the vapid narcissist over the charming mass murderer any day thanks.

  14. As a Brit, we are appalled by Trump, and he has few supporters here. But be careful. I have an unpleasant feeling that if I was an unemployed former steel worker in Akron Ohio, he would have been appealing, and Hillary would have been everything that made me angry, the essence of liberal elitism. Are we English different?- note, I said English, as 63% of Scots voted Remain, but 55% of the English voted Leave, a large proportion of whom were working class midland and north country people. Why? Fed up with London metropolitan patronage , as Trump voters rejected East Coast insiders. If the economy stays good for the 40% of voters, I regret that he will likely be re-elected.

  15. The supportive comments for this guy are not, I repeat, not the sentiment of most Americans. Not by a long shot. Even a large portion of those who voted for him know he’s not fit for the office. I suspect that the comments here that are wholeheartedly supportive are trolls, perhaps Russian trolls.

The shame is so strong that when I sit in the lunch room at work, which is peopled mostly by Indians and African-Americans, I often wish I could tell them that just because I am a pale, freckled white man doesn’t mean I support Trump. Quite the opposite, in fact. Maybe a sticker on the back of my laptop would help.

Ask them to support those points with specifics – they can’t. They can’t because they don’t know. The scary thing about that is that they truly don’t know what they are supporting.

  19. I’m surprised at this article, I would think that British people would celebrate Trump. The racism is right up their ally. I mean, look at how they are treating Megan Markle in the press. Class?! That is something British people invented to make themselves (or a segment of them) better than the rest. Not about a behavior. The most racist people I’ve ever met are British people. They are so so rude, racist, still deluding themselves with their colonial mentalities though clearly that is a thing of the past.

Sooner or later your going to catch a disease and wonder how it happened. It come with the territory as opposed to a dictatorship like Russia, Venezuela and the like. What we do now is wait until 2020 to get the cure. Let’s hope we make it!!

  21. I can’t find fault with the description of Trump. I’m not so sure about blaming those who voted for him, however. I can understand Trump vs Hilary in a twat of the year contest but this was, ultimately, the choice voters faced for President of the USA. It’s like being offered Hitler or Stalin. There must be a deeper systemic fault at play.

We saved your hide in WWI, WWII, and the Falklands Island Wars. Sit down, shut up and worry about your own little nation.

    • Falkland Islands?? Trump said the Kurds didn’t help in Normandy (!?) – they didn’t because they were too busy fighting for the Allies in the Middle East (look it up). Guess who was on Germany’s side? Turkey!

  23. As to how he got elected (besides the Electoral College quirk): 1. Fox News poisoned the well in regard to Hillary Clinton. For years, prior to the election, they planted the idea that she couldn’t be trusted and was a liar. Without basis, millions of people accepted that idea as fact. 2. Trump appealed to those afraid of immigrants and people of color. The undertone of racism drew in many people who had never been able to express or support their feelings in that regard.

  24. Likewise, many of us have enough intelligence to note that this Huttish emperor wannabe not only isn’t wearing the proverbial clothes, he looks horrendous even when he is wearing something. His favorite garment is a self-satisfied smirk, broadcasting to everyone in the room what so many of them, sadly, cannot fathom: That he is laughing inside at how has utterly and completely fooled them into thinking he’s witty or strong or smart or funny or any of the qualities he so clearly lacks.
To those among these commenters who have expressed how badly we want him out of office, I would add that we also want Pence out of office, because he would and could be so many times worse.
We also want to see expulsion, indictment, and imprisonment of Stephen Miller, the mastermind of hateful atrocities toward Hispanics and African-Americans. He, like so many of Hitler’s minions, proves how much more evil those behind the scenes must be in order for the activities on stage to be so heinous as they are now.

When all is said and done… I still believe the entire world of ‘human beings’ will proclaim a “World Celebration Day” – except for the tyrant/dictator class and followers – on the passing of Donald Trump. It’s a little like “Waiting for Godot”, or the Messiah…. But, hopefully ,from our lips to God’s ear sooner rather than later. However, the threads of the writers are very revelatory.

  27. Didn’t the British just a few years ago, with nationalist pride, vote for Brexit and more recently install Boris Johnson as PM? I’d guess there are more than a few (million) British Trump supporters roaming the quaint British countryside. Not something this smarmy author nor those who think they are the intelligentsia and knowers of all that is best (for someone else) would ever admit to.

    • Mr/Ms Liar. Not even one single member of the British electorate voted for Boris Johnson as PM. Please check your facts. And I don’t recall much of the “nationalist pride” you speak of amongst that small majority of leave voters (who were lied to – not least by Boris Johnson – again check your facts). As for the few million British Trump supporters? Honestly mate. If that’s what Fox News told you then dream on. Left and right he is universally despised here. Embarrassing.

  31. This article is saying nothing essentially different from what I hear from CNN, MSNBC, ABC, AND TIME Magazine etc. The fact is Trump is always Trump, he has not changed, and he panders to no one. Americans knew who he was before they voted for him in 2016 and it does that they will change their minds in 2020. America, in voting for Trump, is signalling that they do not want a pretty talker but a man who will get the job done, and that’s what he has proven himself to be.

  34. Excellent article, and a spot on assessment of the man (for lack of a more accurate descriptor). But as some pointed out, trump is not really the problem. trump didn’t change the GOP, he simply exposed it. He simply abandoned any pretense and put their “party first and win at any cost” (lie, cheat, steal) ethos right up front for all to see. and they love it.
trump shouldn’t worry anyone as much as traitors like mitch mcconnell, the absolutely corrupt and spineless GOP senators in office, and the cadre of partisan/unqualified judges being installed.

The worst thing, though, is those “sad supporters.” And saddest and worst of all, this includes countless members of the Republican Party.

It’s like explaining a joke that every one can see, but you can’t. It must be terribly frustrating to be locked out of reality and unable to enter but see those on the other side talking and laughing, but you are unable to hear them.
