Someone on the question-and-answer website Quora asked “Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?” Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England wrote the following response:
A few things spring to mind.
Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem.
For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace – all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed.
So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.
Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing – not once, ever.
I don’t say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility – for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman.
But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is – his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty.
Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers.
And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.
There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface.
Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront.
Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul.
And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist.
Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that.
He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat.
He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.
And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully.
That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead.
There are unspoken rules to this stuff – the Queensberry rules of basic decency – and he breaks them all. He punches downwards – which a gentleman should, would, could never do – and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless – and he kicks them when they are down.
So the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a third – of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:
• Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.
• You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.
This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss.
After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum.
God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid.
He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart.
In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws – he would make a Trump.
And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish:
‘My God… what… have… I… created?
If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set.

Spot on!
I am an American, I couldn’t agree more with your assessment of Trump.I hear some of my fellow Americans say he is the greatest President ever and that he has done such great things and I am just gobsmacked how they can believe this. I am repulsed by every action, gesture, word that man makes
It’s really quite simple, they’ve been brainwashed by fox news and other “conservative” outlets, there is nothing consevative about them, they’re all batshit crazy.
Exactly!! I’ve spent the last few years waiting for someone to look into a camera and say: “Ha! You’ve been pranked!!”. Oh what I wouldn’t do to have the Obamas back in the White House,
When the election results were finalized in 2016, I wrote, “I don’t think I’ve ever used the British phrase “gobsmacked” before but today it seems about right.”
What scares me the most is how many batshit stupid and amoral AMERICANS there are who proudly support him! P.S. I am an American. And I will never be able to forgive the sociopath for breaking the American soul into pieces that will never be the same. He makes me (excuse the crudeness) wretch….
They say that because he is a White Male from the 1950’s when Blacks knew their place, Mexicans did the dirty jobs, dirty racist and homophobic jokes were told with a wink, and women stayed barefoot and pregnant while White Male cheated on his loyal wife. His supporters long for the past and are scared of Change because they don’t understand it.To them, Trump is a man from a past world that has long disappeared.
I agree. I can’t understand how people I know can’t see though him!
I am English. Whenever I hear Donald Trump give a speech or rather a confusing collection of words that seamlessly do not go together I wonder what his eye rolling staff must think? .
“Shakespeare of shit ” he certainly is.
Ditto
Yes, I agree completely. As a fellow American, I am disgusted and baffled as to how anyone could possibly stand behind such a humiliatingly nasty monster. He is the exact opposite of what this country or world needs. I only hope that people from other countries don’t think we all support that pig.
extremely well put.
A most enjoyable read and so accurate! I agree with everything you wrote its to bad we Americans are stuck with this moron bottom feeder!
Right on! To your question as to how anybody can vote for and support him, unfortunately, I believe, too many of our voters see themselves in him! And too many that understand his failings did not vote. It is the danger of a democracy that the sane and sensible people fail to vote in sufficient numbers to protect our democratic and societal values. I’m praying that, in the next election, reason and sanity will prevail and we will be done with this buffoon!
He lost the last election by over two million votes . . . it’s rather obvious our elections have been purchased by the infamous one percent.
Remember that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College. If not for that, we would have had our first woman president. Instead we got Trump. He was in Toledo, Ohio, at least twice, maybe more with his big rallies. Mrs. Clinton came to Toledo once but only to stop at the railway station and speak to a crowd of people standing to see her. No big venue, which we have, that would have given thousands of people the chance to hear her speak. She carried Lucas County, but I wonder how many other Ohio communities felt shortchanged. Somehow Trump took Ohio. He has his fans which I find inexplicable and even more so after reading this delightful essay explaining why the British people dislike him. We have to do better in 2020.
My Mum was from England, and my relatives live in both England and New Zealand. But I can tell you that the majority of people in the U.S. detest Trump–we DESPISE him. So why do we have him in the presidency? A couple of reasons. Number One, there are plenty of rubes (see MAGA HATS) who will fall for his bullshit. And they did. He’s a showman, and he gave them a sense of BELONGING, and most of them probably never belonged to any group until then. They were desperate to be considered “smart” and “ahead of the crowd.” The Snake Oil shined up all of them. But the main reason he was installed into this country was thanks to Vladimir Putin, who set out to dismantle the reputation and the decency of the United States. Yes, there are stupid people in the U.S. Yes, there are desperate people. But the majority would have won if Vlad’s thumb didn’t heavily sit on the scale.
HOWEVER. I thought Hillary Clinton would kick Trump’s ass. But then something that happened that bewildered me, and this time the blame falls squarely on Great Britain:
BREXIT. That was when the goose walked over my grave. That was chill that ran down my back. And I thought: people everywhere are turning into idiots. And that was the day I thought that Trump just might could WIN.
Margaret, I’m a Brit and also a US citizen. I agree with everything you have written and couldn’t have put it more eloquently.
Sounds about right Margaret, and now we have our own version of Trump here in the UK, one Boris Johnson, who some think is the best thing since sliced bread. Personally, I think the slugs have gotten into some folks brains to vote for either of them!
Mike,
Heard you left the mothership. How’s life. You can imagine my surprise to see you liked the article Eldon shared. Has the earth reversed poles?
Precisely. And I’m so sorry.
Excellent descriptions of a narcissistic lunatic.
The truth and nothing but the truth!!
The sooner that your ilk as well as your opponents understand that your point of view is nothing more than that, your life will improve. You can think what you want about anybody you want. Keep in mind, the people that know you would not consider you a glowing example of all that is human either.
Yes, yes, yes, yes and YES! And, as Americans, we know him even more intimately than anyone can. It’s laughable, but it’s really not funny at all to have him in power in our country. I cannot bear to look at him, to hear his voice, to think of him. One day, he will be gone, but it won’t be soon enough.
If I weren’t 80
I would Name my next Child…….NATE!!!
“Spot On,” Indeed!
Go to my web site and click to hear “Bring Back Obama Blues.” I wrote it and my beset friend sings it with a bunch of us musicians backing her up. Go here
www,theWayt.com and click on the Bring Back Obama Blues button. Great and well crafted article.
As just one of the 63 million voters who choose Trump over the epitome of classless, bully elitist Hillary we welcome the scorn and ridicule of Brits who talk for a living.
I have never heard such an accurate description of him. The only reason he became president is from the help he got from russia
Yes, Thank you so very much. Never in my 61 years on this earth have I ever seen such a president. Have I ever seen such a man? I am an American. What baffles me more than Mr. Trump is the people that continue to love and respect him. How is this possible? Are their brains truly “abby-normal?”
As an American, this presidency has forced me to reconsider my “conservative values”. I now consider myself an “Independent Conservative” and have resigned from the GOP. May I add to your “bully” comment: Trump is a megalomaniac, narcissist bully. And, like ALL bullies, he is at his core a COWARD. Donald Trump has proven himself to be a coward TRAITOR to the very America he claims to “love”. The majority of folks that follow this president sadly do not have the mental capacity to realize they are the EXACT same type of people (mob mentality) that followed others in history such as Mussolini. It’s truly amazing that throughout human history, one sick individual can manage to f up the entire world.
Totally agree with all of this. Trump is a pile of shit. And to think that he actually became the President of the United States is terrifying.
Remember it was a Brit Mark Burnett that revived Trump from death with that horrible TV show the Apprentice. So while NY City/Atlantic City knew of Trump as a Con Man middle, impressionable Red States of America thought of him as the tough non-sense Business Tycoon (thing Potemkin Village) Guru and the rest as they say “is History” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Burnett
Spot on description of 45. It is all said, completely and accurately leaving nothing to add.
Three, four years ago in Spain there actually was a comedy show based on trump.
gunna look this one up
So spot on! Thank you for the capsule of our embarrassment here in the US. We are simply counting the hours or days until he is perp-walked out of the Oval Office.
From your mouth to God’s ear!!!1
Right on the nose description of the most vile person to ever hold the office of president of the United states.
Thank you thehobbledehoy, for sharing this. Nate White, sadly, this is perfectly stated. With the stroke of your eloquent pen, you have clearly and concisely described #45.
He said he was stable genius. That was funny
He’s an oxymoron…. Wait…. that word is too long!
Brilliant. Thank you.
Perfect.
Makes me proud to be an English American! This article is perfect!!!
RIGHT ON THE MONEY! However, I am not happy you used Picasso and Shakespeare, although correctly, in a piece about this disgraceful ape.
Spot on…..
Incredibly spot on!
Incredibly spot on!
“He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.”
Quite possibly the best and most accurate insult of Donald Trump I have ever seen
Agree! Brilliant!
You sir have hit the nail squarely on the head. Trump is above all else a narcissist. This is typified by his multiple adulterous affairs. Any man who repeatedly cheats on his many wives and does so multiple times, with braggadocio, is a true narcissist. That is true because a true narcissist does not care about the vow of commitment to a woman, cares not for the after effects to his children, family and friends, and cares nothing about the woman he is cheating with. He only cares about himself and his immediate gratification. Anyone who admires Trump does so because they admire that part of a man who takes or does what he wants without thought of consequence, treats others dismissively, and never accepts consequences for his actions. Such people are not to be admired but to be shamed, outcast and ignored. It is an unfortunate fact that we as Americans thought this was what we admired in a leader. Hopefully the British will continue to hold the ground of morality, integrity and dignity that we in the US have so far abandoned.
Gary,
As an exercise in ‘reality check’, please substitute the word ‘Obama’ for ‘Trump’. If you are intellectually honest, then you’ll see Obama as a bigger narcissist than Trump.
Granted, all politicians are narcissists. That is why they seek fame and attention.
Trump doesn’t need the job. He dislikes politicians, which is why he is the anti-politician. The president he is most similar to is Teddy Roosevelt, around 1900.
He’s attempting to clean the swamp from the inbred bottom feeders who dwell there. This simple idea is a threat to all ‘bottom dwellers’ and ‘ankle biters’.
I’m not apologizing for Trump. I’m explaining why he is in office.
Regards,
KD
Kevin Doyle, you have completely proven everything we are all complaining about here. Well done
Wow. Totally wrong. You can not intellectually equate Trump and Obama. There is no comparison. Obama is revered and admired world wide and he resurrected our economy from a bad recession then handed off to Trump a great economy… he ah Donald is reviled widely. Inarticulate. Find another bridge to live under.
KD,
That KoolAid mustache dribbling down the side of your face must get old.
Actually, no. Trump is what we in America call “white trash”. He wears a suit and a tie, but his drooling troglodyte MAGAs are responding to the visceral identification that HE IS THEM. He is their doppelganger; your doppelganger. The C- students who never made it to college. The conspiracy-mongering, racist, misogynistic trolls who are mocked by scientists, educated citizens and “elites” who adhere to facts, logic and critical thinking. Trump is the revenge of the deplorables (and they know who they are–that is why they had such an incendiary reaction to Hillary identifying them as such.) He is the one of them who can muscle his way into polite, civilized society, insult/shit on everyone, and not be escorted out of the Club by security. He is the Lord of the Flies. And he will serve as a cautionary tale to future generations.
Trump ran because Obama insulted him in public and he wanted revenge.
Oh my… one of the very MAGA Orange Kool-Aid guzzlers we are all talking about. WAKE UP. You’ve been gas-lighted.
He is not like Teddy Roosevelt, if he was he would never have passed a tax break that benefits the the 1% and all companies like Amazon and G.E. who had billions of profit yet they and the vast majority of the 1% ers paid zero tax none of which once again we are being made to believe the trickle down effect it’s been done before and nothing has ever trickled down. Minimum wage is still not a livable wage, nor is SSI which is what you get after your unemployment insurance runs out because of an injury on the job your let go and the Doctors say your injury can’t be fixed you are permanently disabled. So SSI top amount is 771.00 dollars a month yet our congress people say they can’t live on that. They have never done any type of actual work or ever broke a sweat. So if they can’t live on 174,000.00 dollars a year if you get SSI hw would they feel switching with someone who receives SSI you have to live on 8400.00 a year or if your on SSDI top amount is 1200.00 dollars or 14,144.00 a year now I don’t know of anyone wanting to get injured badly enough that medical files from doctor says you can not work again you can’t get SSDI if you have never worked or don’t have the required amount of credits the other can only be received if the doctors determination is your injury is severe enough you can’t work again but aren’t old enough to collect your Social Security. So when these leeches cry about getting their salary for the rest of their lives, even if you made crazy money your retirement is after twenty years they get paid even if they serve only one term. Let’s ask them if you can’t live off 174,000.00 a year yet you pass the laws that set the top amounts you can receive on SSI and SSDI where you force people to live on between 10,000.00- 12000.00 a year let’s see you live with your families on these amounts and see how they make out then. I bet that 174,000.00 will sound very well. They only ran for office rather than taking their dergrees and did like everyone else going to work for a corporation but no they are to damn lazy and can’t hold any other job because they are lazy bastards.
To which observation are you saying “Rubbish” ? Without clarification your comment has no meaning, save that you disagree with someone!
The answer to every Trump comment, question or crime is not “Obama,” or “Hillary,” or “Biden,” or “Dems,” or “Liberals.” It’s just Trump and the noxious environment he creates wherever he goes and whatever he touches. His behavior has no relation or comparison to anyone or anything else. The only “explanation” is that Trump is corrupt and unfit for office. The End.
Gary if you read; you will see there is no room for your sensless remark. It appears as though maybe Trump did not need the job, but Putin did!
KD- out of curiosity, where are you from?
KD- Where are you from? Curious.
Looks like the Russian trolls are out.
You couldn’t be more deluded if you tried…
Oh, you mean with Johnson? An absolute paragon of “morality, integrity and dignity”! 🙂
Spot on. Trump is so closed minded, so self-centered, so unstable and far from being a genius. He Is oil trying to mix with water.
Rubbish.
Waiting for the considered rebuttal. But looks like “rubbish” is as far as it goes. And that is symptomatic of the times and man…
At one level I get Trump. He embodies something problematic: the article we are understandably praising is sophisticated and witty. But a lot of people don’t get that. And there’s little engagement between those who do and those that don’t.
What they see instead is someone using fancy words to be mean – to Trump, and by extension his supporters. Which is where his opponents often get it wrong. And why Trump got it right when he talked about draining the swamp. To many, that conveys the concept not just of thinning out the herd of lobbyists, but of other articulate smartasses who somehow profit while working class people are screwed over once again.
Those are the bastards that took away homes and pensions and jobs for millions. I see them here in the UK and I know of them in America. Technically intelligent people who abuse others using marketing, finance, and the law in ways that fleece those without the education to see through the bullshit.
By deriding Trump’s supporters, we fuel the engine that Steve Bannon and his cronies are cranking up to roll out a fascist future. And that’s one where snide witticisms and passive aggression will have little to say to the boot and bullet voters will have let in by ballot. The hope I see rests in the younger generation, many of them aware their parents are bickering about the seating plan on the Titanic.
Very profound indeed…
I, as an American, am ashamed of what we have allowed in. I do hope that our allies can see that Trump is not the voice of the majority of our nation. I do hope we can rectify the damage this excrement pile of a president has created.
I, as an American, am ashamed of what we have allowed in. I do hope that our allies can see that Trump is not the voice of the majority of our nation. I do hope we can rectify the damage this excrement pile of a president has created.
As an American with British roots,(mother from Leicester). I could not agree more!
Remarkably accurate !
Everyone….everywhere….should read this!!!!
YES!!!!!!
PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!
A perfect assessment of this toad of a man. Just a ghastly human being. Best bit, you made me smile (sadly, something I haven’t felt much like doing since November 9, 2016) while reading it. Thank you.
The Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit.
Nice hit job. I am sure our President will provide you a lot of “grist for the mill” over the next five-plus years. Cheerio! 🙂
I could not have said it better in fact no one has said this better. A giant kudos to Nate. You have become my favorite writer. I would love to hear more, I hope you will write us more. It sadly is a time when I am embarrassed to be an American. Don’t get me wrong, in my travels overseas, I have had many lively political discussions. and I’ve been embarrassed before ,but never like this. This disgusting excuse for a human as dredged up every vile despicable form of hatred and venom one could ever imagine possible. I cannot wrap my head around how he could ever have become president of America. What does this say about Americans? I’m sick to my stomach every time I think about it. I’m saddened and sickened to the very depth of my soul. I can only hope that the rest of the world can look on at this and say it’s not all of them. They’re not all like that. It brings to my mind the Hitler years. All of Germany did not support that beast. It was not all Germans who stood behind the Nazi regime. I only hope that those of you out there looking in at this realize some of us have hearts and souls and we shake our heads in utter disdain praying this will stop before it gets like it was during those awful years. It’s a different country a different culture but the effect is nonetheless the same. He has already caged babies, ripped them from their parents and thrown them in filthy cages. Turned back time on all the progress we made environmentally. Put us back in the fossil fuel era. Turns his back on our faithful allies who fought long and hard to contain isis. Leading them into getting killed by their enemies. I could keep going on and on but I’ve said too much yet not enough
He is the President of Betrayal.
May he Never Rest In Peace!
15 months and counting…. and our abject apologies to the rest of the world for his abhorrent behavior on a daily basis.
So true of Trump!! And to think that I, and my wife, voted for him. It was not because we thought of him as any type of guru. As a matter of fact I couldn’t stand him on the TV show ” The Apprentice”. He struck me as a spoiled, self centered, egotistical, narcissist. It was because the other candidate, Hillary, was so much more the sneaky, back biting, piece of trash that the Clintons have been noted for. The American people deserved better candidates. If you are not American, put yourselves in our place and try to decide who you would have voted for. Scary, isn’t it?
Yeah, I would vote for the one not accused of sexual assault, the smartest one, the one who stuck out a difficult marriage, the one who was a US Senator and the Secretary of State, the one who knows how a bill becomes a law, the one who never declared bankruptcy, the one who could not get a business loan in the Western World, the one who never stiffed carpenters, plumbers and electricians, the one who had the best and brightest people surrounding her and ready to serve the country. I could go on. You buried your head in the sand and now you act like you had no choice. Did his criminal behavior hurt you? Sorry. (Not really).
Carol – your comments are perfection – I too wondered why so many people bought the negative narratives about Hillary but glossed over how qualified Hillary was for this position.
With each and every turn, disgusting act, childish tweet, and political blunder of trump and his administration – I wonder how different things would have been if only the person who won the popular vote would have been given the opportunity to lead our country – I do wonder.
Criminal behavior like the Hildabeast? https://www.google.com/amp/s/lasvegas.cbslocal.com/2016/08/10/the-list-of-clinton-associates-whove-died-mysteriously-check-it-out/amp/
I knew we were in trouble when we electoral college voted him in. Trump lost by 3 million votes to Clinton. Now, we watch this reality TV goon with his twitter account make a fool out of himself, every day. Let’s not forget the first lady “Be Best” slogan for kids in US schools. Let us say schools ran out to order t-shirts with “Be Best” on them. We are hoping this impeachment proceeding will prevail.
Will you vote for him again? Regardless who the other candidate may be?
Tristan, someone said earlier 2 million. U guys need to get the talking points on the same page. Also the popular vote is not what counts.
His gift is he is keeping his campain promises and making America greater than ever! Keep your wit and coolness. This man loves his country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s “campaign,” not “campain.” To arrive at your conclusion, did he love his country when he increased our nation’s debt ceiling to the highest in history in order to deliver a tax law that gave 83% of the tax cuts to the top 1%? Did he love his country when he lied to coal miners by saying that their jobs were secure, when miners have been laid off and the industry is faltering badly? Did he love his country when he put minor children in concentration camps because their parents sought to escape from violence and death in Central American countries created by the deportation of gang members and drug dealers seeking to satisfy our illicit drug habits? Where’s the cheaper, better health care system he promised within the first 100 days? Is he helping the country by scheduling meetings of international dignitaries at his golf courses and hotels? Has any other president appointed as many untrained, unqualified family members to occupy governmental positions? He’s an egomaniacal, narcissistic, bullying, braggadocio, a sheer huckster who depends on the rigid ignorance of people like you.
I’m pretty sure in his case it is campain though, however unintentionally; there’s been a lot of pain from it.
Beautifully said. People like June, the cult members who have drunk deeply of the kool-aid, are sad. I do take hope when I see so few actually speaking up FOR that turd. Those that still support him do so because they are just like him. They like that people of color are being locked in concentration camps. They like his cruelty, sexism, racism, bigotry, and all the rest. They, like you and I heard every single thing he did before the election and still decided to vote for him. He dishonored gold star families, women, people with disabilities, minorities, and LGBTQ people, and THAT was what his followers wanted. He tapped into the inherent racism and bigotry that built the American Evangelicals and he continues to stroke their bigoted behinds.
You lost June at “it’s campaign.”
As an American this is right on the money. As one who did not vote for him, it baffles me to this day why any one would! He is a bully, crass, vulgar, and has to always be assured he is the “greatest” and the chosen one. Insecure and thin skinned. He can dish it out, but he can’t take the slightest bit of criticism. He believes all the conspiracy theories and spreads them like truth. Hopefully this nightmare ends in November 2020.
“snorting ” at campain…. I think the ‘pain” part might be right on! It has hurt our country every day since he sauntered into the White House and began abusing the his sacred trust.
June, name one promise he has kept, we’ll wait.
His promises were xenophobic, racist, and anti-American. Fortunately he has NOT succeeded in keeping ANY promises, except to the billionaires who he delivered a trillion- dollar tax cut to. (I assure you, you did not receive any of that.) He loves the US so much he sold us out to Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Turkey. And counting. Delusion is a powerful drug. Are you happy?
No he doesn’t! He is a coward who hides behind this false image of himself being this patriotic American who loves his country and will fight for it. That allows him to lie cheat and steal. He does this by attacking any criticism towards him or his administration as an attack on the country, or on Christianity , or on the constitution itself. He takes credit for the work of others. His lies are all very easily verifiable to any who can read and use a computer. His lie count is up to over 13,000. If a trump supporter can pull his head out of his own arse for minute and look at the facts before him they will see the reality of his nonsense. Those that don’t are willfully ignorant twats who can’t see the forest for the tress.
He promised to clean the water in Flint. He promised to keep the auto plants open in Ohio. He promised to pay down the deficit (we owe more than ever before). He promised to rein in the drug companies and lower drug prices. He promised to drain the swamp – he has hired more criminals than any president. He promised he didn’t pay off porn stars.
His base is largely comprised of racist white people – oh, except for the one guy he called “my African American.”
He loves HIMSELF. End of list.
Need a double like button on this post!!
If the Founders of these States United, could have foreseen the future to this date, they never would have revolted against the Crown.
Brilliant! Bravo! Thank you!
Believe me, I am an American and I too am confused and distressed that 1/3 of my countrymen like this lunatic
As a mortified American, I can’t love this enough. The thinking portion of this country is just as baffled as you are.
Thank you for your insightful evaluation of a racist, sexist, jingoistic, xenophobic, lying, whoremonger. He is so stupid and self-absorbed that he’s not aware that he is.
I like your comment. Please google Dunning Kruger Effect. This study explains Trump’s and his base’s behavior beautifully.
Well, said, well written, well put, well done!!!
Daisy Whole ❤️edly AGREES, Donald!
From another American who cannot abide this appalling excuse of a man: We don’t teach geography, people often vote their fears rather than their real beliefs, and there was an incalculable number of people who could not bring themselves to vote for a woman for president. But despite the reasons after the fact, the shock goes on. One of the most common opening phrases now: “Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse…” Thanks for the articulation of your description. —The kindest thing said about him that I could abide was, “He’s someone who has never been loved” (Anne LaMotte). A commentator on MSNBC whose name I forget was preciser: “He’s a man who never had any love he didn’t have to pay for.” So now the whole country and a great deal of the world is on the couch…
Brilliantly said, spot on and unfortunate: Also, as an American, we’re sorry and will make every effort to rectify the situation, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Refreshingly WOKE!
The ONLY part of this I disagree with it bringing Shakespeare and Picasso’s name into the mix. Trump has neither the intelligence nor the grave to even know who these people are and what they contributed to the world’s history. But he also doesn’t DESERVE anything like that. He is a pig!
I am attaching something I wrote several years ago. Don’t let the title fool you, I am NOT a Trump fan in ANY WAY, SHAPE or FORM! I think he is the BIGGEST embarrassment of the United States, along with his ridiculous followers.
Sorry, Clinton getting his d#%k sucked in the Oval Office is the most embarrassing.
Yes. I still can’t believe he is the President of the United States! (If he actually is!)
Please, what do Brits think of Trudeau? I think he’s Jabba’s sidekick with the long ears…
You have convinced me that I am British.
It’s been almost three years and most of us are still wondering what the fuck just happened.
Yes, yes, yes, we understand your keen observations. In theory. In the real world we had 2 choices. Donald or Hilary. We have picked our poison and shall do so again. It is positive RESULTS we are after, and are not looking to impress anyone, our friends across the pond or otherwise, at this point. There is something quite serious going on, you know. It is called reality.
Loving this with tears in my eyes.
The majority of folks that follow this president sadly do not have the mental capacity to realize they are the EXACT same type of people that followed others in history such as Mussolini. It’s truly amazing that throughout human history, one sick individual can manage to f up the entire world.
