Don’t send money to Democrats. Donate directly to Ukraine

“I am not a member of an organized political party.
I am a Democrat.”

For those Hobbledehoy readers who are understandably seething with rage after the Racketeer-in-Chief’s ambush on Ukraine President Volodymyr  Zelensky, I am taking the advice of Sarah Kendzior who recently wrote, “Do not wait for elections. Do not give money to politicians; give it to groups and people who you know are helping others.” [Read Kendzior here]

The links below are from Timothy David Snyder, an American historian specializing in the history of Central and Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union, and the Holocaust. [Hear Snyder here]

If you are thinking today about how to help Ukrainians, here are some possibilities:
Come Back Alive (Ukrainian NGO that supports soldiers on the battlefield and veterans)
United 24 (the Ukrainian state platform for donations, with many excellent projects)
RAZOM (an American NGO, tax-deductible for US citizens, which cooperates with Ukrainian NGOS to support civilians)
Documenting Ukraine (a project that helps to give Ukrainians a voice, also tax-deductible for Americans).

Should the Democrats in Congress unify and publish their own GoFundUkraine, we will update. I’m not holding my breath.

The Hobbledehoy needs your help today

On the day England leaves the European Union and The Trump Crime Family pisses all over the U.S. Constitution – The Hobbledehoy needs to do something – anything – to help somebody out.

We heard Scottish musician Kris Drever had his equipment stolen the other night at Celtic Connections in Glasgow. The Hobbledehoy loves folk music from Britain, and Kris’ music brings people much happiness.

There’s a GOFUNDME page set-up to help Kris purchase new equipment. Let’s help him out, please. Music and the arts will help us all find a way out of these dark times.

And fuck Donald Trump.
